BEHIND THE PAINTINGSA Brief IntroductionI am a self-taught artist taking my inspiration from the natural world and local surroundings. Working in acrylics, my detailed paintings cover many subjects including landscapes, seascapes, architecture, animals and fantasy.

I have exhibited my original paintings in England and France, winning awards in both countries. More recently I have begun producing high quality limited edition prints of some of the most popular paintings, making them more accessible to a wider audience. I hope you enjoy what you see on this site and welcome any comments or queries about original paintings, prints or commissions.

Andy HousegoSelf-Taught ArtistOriginally from Hampshire, I showed a keen interest in wildlife and the natural world from an early age. Art was something I enjoyed as a pastime; pencil drawings, watercolours and acrylics. After gaining a BSc (Hons) in Rural Resource Development, I worked in Countryside Management until 2007. In June of that year my wife and I made the decision to move to Normandy in France with our two young sons. We are fortunate to live in a 300 year old farmhouse surrounded by beautiful rural scenery. The wildlife and landscapes of Normandy inspire my paintings today. I paint almost exclusively in acrylics, using a wide colour palette and both oil and watercolour techniques to achieve the desired effect in my highly detailed works.
